Why Truss? A truss is one of the strongest structural frameworks in engineering; used to create bridges and homes. It embodies our favorite aspects of coffee: building connection and community.

We started Truss Coffee because we wanted to share a coffee experience that is approachable and community-driven. It is our mission to source incredible coffees in a way that allows our team and producing partners to live well, while forming strong connections with our neighbors and bringing a little extra joy to day-to-day life in Washington, DC.

Truss was founded by Terry Tait, a coffee professional with 10 years of experience in the coffee industry as a barista, trainer, and roaster. Terry first thought of Truss as a way to connect more deeply with the people of DC through outstanding service and coffee.
